Yep, you read right – this week I am heading to Hawaii for Geeks on a Plan [re]Think Hawaii, and taking in a little HIFF – 30 or so geeks living it up Hawaii Five-0-style!

For me, this last year has been a roller coaster ride. I always thought making the transition from building teams and leading projects at agencies, to building a startup, would be an easy step. It wasn’t, and isn’t. But it is a step I have absolutely no regret in taking. The experience has been liberating. And I am continually humbled by the help, advise and support I receive from others.

I believe this is what makes Silicon Valley unique. For sure, there’s money to be made. But this is done with a focus on helping others and on building great products and great companies. In some cases money has nothing to do with it. I was recently at a meet up where Dave McClure was being thanked for his help with Samasource – an amazing non-profit that is improving lives all over the world. To me, Geeks on a Plane is an extension of just that… I think. I’m looking forward to finding out first hand. And hopefully contributing.
